Abstract
This paper presents a detailed methodology for the estimation and optimization of the annualized performances of wind turbines equipped with doubly-fed induction generators (DFIG). The method takes into account the losses and ratings of different system components : gearbox, DFIG, and power converters. The influence of the DC-bus voltage limit of the power converters on the annual energy yield reduction is analyzed and quantified. The influence of the blade pitch angle control strategy is also discussed and the compromises between the characteristics of the different system components are investigated. The methodology is applied to 2MW wind power plant.
