Abstract :
This paper describes how subway tunnel profiles, energy recuperation, and efficient train control can provide the best possible energy savings in the mass transit industry. Power electronics and software engineering are enabling technological fields for energy recuperation and efficient train control. Comparative studies are performed using Matlabreg as a simulation tool. Energy saving schemes are described, appraised and illustrated.
