Abstract :
To reduce the size of equipment and enhance the response time, it is proposed to apply the piezoelectric ceramics to the electronic jacquard mechanism. After analyzing the piezoelectric ceramics needle-selected actuator theoretically, it is found that the tip displacement can be influenced by the applied voltage and its size under the quasi-static condition. Then a needle-selected mechanism was designed and tested on our home-made jacquard loom platform. The structure size of piezoelectric needle-selected actuator could be 50% less than the electromagnet one, meanwhile the action response speed is almost the same. That can be applied to design novel jacquard looms.
