Abstract
A military communications gateway was developed that has the capability to (1) accept messages of differing formats and protocols; (2) reformat, translate, and prioritize messages; and (3) retransmit messages onto other communication channels. The unit features a standard VME architecture and a programmable digital modem operating with a TACFIRE protocol. The product operation was verified by interfacing it with three battery computer units, a digital message device, and a commercial terminal
