Abstract :
The authors describe the expert system for electric power systems fault analysis which is being used in the Takeo Control Center of the Kyushu Electric Power Company. The shell has the characteristics of knowledge representation and an inference mechanism. The knowledge base has a classified and modularized structure. Each knowledge module has a virtual rule schema (VRS) that is a template and editing guidance for rules contained in the knowledge module. The shell prepares flexible inference mechanisms for dealing with a knowledge base structure. The shell is written in Prolog and has four functional modules: inference engine, verification module, knowledge editor, and data editor.<>
