Abstract :
This paper proposed a stable land cover patches method (SLPM) for automatic registration of multitemporal remote sensing images in rural regions. We defined the stable land cover patches (SLP) as those land cover patches whose area, centroid and shape keep stable as time. And then, a series of steps, including image preprocessing, patches extraction and patches matching, were applied to extract and match SLPs from remote sensing images. In our experiment, a rural region and two HJ images were selected as our study area and data, and finally an accuracy of 0.57 pixel was achieved.
