Abstract :
Several demonstration projects around the world have proven technical feasibility of high temperature superconducting power cable systems. These demonstration projects have shown that various cable designs can be implemented to provide reliable service with little maintenance when operated on a continuous basis. Key system parameters of interest to the utility industry are discussed including system interfaces, cryogenic cooling, operation and reliability.
