Abstract
Describes the quantitative requirement of multimedia networking OS, applying large scale commercial multimedia networking services, based on the analysis of future multimedia networking services. The author proposes the research issues of multimedia networking OS, focusing multiple processing performance, synchronizing and deadline control primitives of multimedia information, guaranteeing primitives for network wide quality of service, distribution control primitives for multimedia service network based on defacto standard distribution control architecture and multimedia information buffer control. These are needed before the arrival of the genuine multimedia service era
