Abstract :
The article introduces the mechanism of the power cable fault and the present status of temperature and strain online monitoring of power cable firstly. Then the sensing theories and design of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) are analyzed. A temperature and strain online monitoring system of power cable based on FBG, which uses a sensor network combined wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and time division multiplexing (TDM), is proposed as well. By applying prestrain technique, the wave with two peaks is reflected by one FBG sensor so that the cross-sensing effect could be eliminated. Finally the functions and application prospects of this system are represented.
