  • Abstract
The characteristic basis function method (CBFM) is applied to analyze electromagnetic scattering problems. According to the concepts of grouping and high level effects, characteristic basis functions (CBFs) in different levels are constructed on large blocks and used to generate a size-reducing matrix equation. The paper gives some observations on CBFM and also proposes a new approach for generation of the CBF matrix equation, which can simplify the calculation of the CBF impedance matrix, important for reducing computational time and storage. Numerical results show the validation of the proposed approach.
