Title :
A modern concept for the command post communication network
Author_Institution :
NFT Ericsson Commun. ANS, Oslo, Norway
Abstract :
The author provides an analysis of the communication requirements of command posts. A flexible, user-friendly, and economical communications system is defined and presented. The system was designed with small autonomous, high-capacity command post switches with a range of services. The design incorporated extensive use of application specific integrated circuits. The users access the system through multiline command post communication terminals and digital access point terminals. The equipment was designed for ease of operation by the staff officers. The system was designed to meet future requirements caused by the increasing importance of battle automation
