Communications to support distributed command and control systems

The author provides an overview of the significant communications problems encountered in supporting distributed command and control; a review of the state of the art of the technology; and some recent examples of how some of the technical problems are being attacked. There are three factors which drive command, control, and communications systems toward distributed architectures.
