Abstract :
The author discusses the ISDN (integrated services digital network) user-network interface management protocol. The protocol enables users to manage network services; operations, such as network reconfiguration and routing changes; and maintenance. The authors stresses that user equipment should be looked at from both user-of-service and manager-of-service perspectives. He reviews the current status of the user-network interface management protocol architecture studied by CCITT and identifies problems specific to the ISDN environment. He suggests that it is necessary to strengthen the convergence function to solve the ISDN-specific problems. He gives examples of the application of ISDN user-network interface management protocol
