Abstract :
Matrix converter can provide high quality input/output waveforms without energy storage components except for small input line filter for elimination of switching ripples. Therefore, it has many advantages compared with conventional AC/DC/AC converters. In this paper, a novel control method for matrix converter is presented based on the equivalent model method. For the rectifier and the inverter, input and output voltages are divided into six intervals respectively. Equations are listed with duty ratios of switches as variables after mathematical analysis. Simultaneous equations are solved under the constraint of unity input power factor. So the matrix converter using this control method can provide sinusoidal output waveforms as well as maintain unity input power factor. Moreover, the voltage transfer ratio can obtain the highest value of matrix converter. Simulation results are given to verify the validity and effectiveness of the proposed control method.
