Abstract :
Stressful conditions may occur with engineers in charge of a major process plant such as a nuclear power plant, or individuals in the emergency services or in the defence forces. What is essential is that individuals who may be faced with these conditions should be adequately educated and trained to respond sensibly and logically under the stresses and strains induced by the emergency. The recognition of the need for such education and training is clearly a management responsibility though requiring the co-operation of the entire workforce
