Abstract :
Thermal cycle testing has become a popular test for evaluating the quality of insulation systems. Test procedures which have been used are described. A typical thermal cycling facility is described along with some testing nuances. Typical test results are presented for one insulation system and some attempt is made to explain them. The authors explain what has been learned after performing tests on eight sets of stator bars, and provide information on the outstanding issues yet to be understood. A brief description of future work is provided
