Abstract :
Piezoelectric properties of modified lead titanate ceramics are discussed. The ceramics produced by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) exhibit better high frequency properties than conventionally manufactured ceramics and are very attractive for low to medium MHz range bulk and surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices. Microstructure-piezoelectric properties relations are discussed. A device based on commercial modified lead titanate ceramics, which couples two optical modes in an optical fiber through flexural acoustic vibrations provided by surface acoustic waves is described
