Abstract :
A method for optimizing aperture-coupled microstrip patch antennas is presented and applied In this work. This method is based on genetic algorithms, and in the process of the genetic algorithm an antenna circuit model is used. A modification is also carried out to improve this model. The method is applied for increasing the bandwidth of the aperture-coupled microstrip patch antenna and good results were obtained. The antennas obtained by the genetic algorithm were analyzed by the method of moments and the results were satisfactory.
