Abstract :
Debate continues as to the most effective method to determine the operational integrity of valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries used in critical standby power applications. This paper promises a potential breakthrough in VRLA `online testing´, having the capability of determination of the Randles equivalent circuit components and relating this to battery health. It presents the results to date of a UK Government award sponsored development effort for a portable battery monitor based on this principle
