Abstract :
A novel technique is presented of narrowing the spectral line width of microwave signals generated by heterodyning pairs of VCSELs which form an extended optically coupled cavity. The authors experimentally demonstrate a line width reduction by as much as a factor of 104 - to less than 10 kHz
