Abstract :
Summary form only given. Organic crystalline materials with large electrooptic (E-O) effect are favorable candidates for fast E-O modulators because of their substantially low dispersion of E-O coefficients compared to conventional inorganic E-O materials such as LiNbO/sub 3/. Large E-O coefficients have been recently reported for several organic materials. The organic molecular crystal NPP demonstrated large E-O effect in the visible and near infrared regions under transverse modulation configuration.
