Abstract :
This paper presents a method for the detection of broken bars in induction machines, based on wavelet analysis of the stator current. The continuous wavelet transform modulus is used for the extraction of specific frequency components that indicate this kind of fault in a machine. The obtained experimental results in machines connected to AC grid or driven by a three-phase inverter confirm the ability of the proposed technique to accurately identify these characteristic harmonic components of the stator current due to broken bars in asynchronous machines.
