Abstract :
Analysis of main limitations on time resolution inherent in techniques for bunch length or bunch phase distribution monitoring with a resolution in the subpicosecond range, and also expressions for longitudinal aberrations of the main optical elements in techniques like a streak camera will be presented. The possibility of realization of the latter with a resolution of about 0.01 ps and less is discussed
