  • Abstract
This paper describes the lightning surge response analysis of reinforced concrete pole based on the electromagnetic field theory. The effects of direction and velocity of the return stroke current, pole structure and electrical properties of concrete were included. Particularly, the influence of electrical properties of concrete on a lightning surge response has been studied. Therefore, the pole surge response depends on the direction and velocity of the return stroke current and properties of concrete. Finally, the pole surge response was calculated by the proposed method agree very well with the measured pole surge response obtained from reduced-scale model tests.
