Abstract :
A clamped forward converter power supply with inbuilt active power factor correction has been presented in this work. The circuit topology does not require a separate switch for the additional boost converter stage generally employed in the conventional system for active power factor correction. Based on this topology, a power supply with output voltage and current of 56 V and 27.5 A respectively has been designed to operate from single phase AC mains. A detailed simulation of such a converter with feedforward average current controller has been presented in this paper. Similar idea has been extended for a three-phase system with its attendant advantages
