Abstract :
Brushless DC machines for disc drive spindle motors are constructed with exterior permanent magnet rotors. One of the generic forms uses a six-slot three-phase stator and an eight-pole rotor using surface mounted magnets. The conventional construction uses a laminated stator core. This paper aims to compare such a machine with an equivalent version using an insulated powder iron core material
