Abstract :
We have presented some ideas for the automated design of analogue integrated systems using qualitative reasoning and design automation concepts. The prototype system with a qualitative system optimiser is currently being implemented in C and turbo Prolog on an IBM PC compatible. At the moment only simple SC filter examples are considered but we hope to extend the approach to ADCc and PLLs. Qualitative algorithms should be seriously considered in view of the much increased complexity of the analogue design process and the consequent need for systematic and well-reasoned assistance and simplification
