Abstract :
This paper presents the results of our experience with the implementation of an independent communication platform on an Unix operating system and on an autonomous VME board system with no operating system. After a brief description of our platform and the two environments, we describe the cost of an Unix operating system on our platform and the advantages and the disadvantages of a high level operating system are discussed
