  • Abstract
    The protection based on fault transient component could overcome the disadvantages of traditional industrial frequency protection such as poor anti-CT saturation ability and long operating time.This paper presents a novel ultra high speed bus protection based on transient energy, which takes the voltage traveling wave and current traveling wave on each transmission line to calculate the energy, with the purpose of accurate identification of bus internal fault. Simulation is carried out with electromagnetic transient simulation software PSCAD/EMTDC,the simulation result verifies that the bus protection is reliable and accurate.The bus protection also can treat lightning failure or lightning disturbance happened on transmission lines as bus external fault,without malfunction.
