Abstract :
The effects induced by strong nonlinear operation on the dispersion properties of a fiber used for soliton transmission are highlighted and accurately evaluated. It is shown that triangular or parabolic profiles, operating in a weakly anomalous regime when the powers are low, can be forced to pass in the normal regime when very high input powers are applied. The developed analysis, based on an iterative FEM approach, allows one to face the design problem of such kind of fibers, reaching the desired waveguide dispersion for any power value
