Abstract :
Summary form only given. Optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) employing quasi phase matching (QPM) have been the focus of much recent research. A recently emerging material is periodically poled KTiOPO/sub 4/ (PPKTP) which has a somewhat reduced nonlinear coefficient compared to periodically poled LiNbO/sub 3/ but offers a higher damage threshold (>900 MW/cm/sup 2/) and an order of magnitude lower coercive field, allowing thicker crystals to be effectively poled. Here we describe single axial mode oscillation of a grazing incidence PPKTP oscillator, with output pulse energy scaled in a PPKTP optical parameteric amplifier (OPA).
