Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have proposed and developed the generation of ultrashort pulses utilizing electrooptic phase modulation and pulse compression, which we call the "electrooptic modulation method". In this report, we present a novel quasi-velocity matched (QVM) LiTaO/sub 3/ guided-wave optical phase modulator with the resonant electrode structure. This device should lead to novel compact and stable integrated ultrashort pulse generators.
