Abstract :
Ultrathin films of tetra-tert-butyl-Phthalocyaninato-Metal (M-ttbPc) mixed with promoting stearic acid (SA) were deposited by a Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method on clean and Al-coated glass substrate, respectively. The LB films (FettbPc:SA,CuttbPc:SA LB films) were formed up to 20 monolayers in a layer-by-layer manner. The LB films were investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM), UV-visible spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurement to determine their film structure and to show the optical and electrical properties. The molecule alignment was begun beyond approximately 10 layers. The photovoltaic efficiency of solar cells comprised of Al/M-ttbPc:SA LB film/Au were 10-5%. The efficiency of the LB cells was 2-3 orders smaller than that of cells produced using an evaporation method.
