Abstract :
The submillimetre-wave region of the electromagnetic spectrum contains a wealth of information about the nature of astrophysical objects. It is an exciting challenge to develop instrumentation that can be used to make sensitive observations in this part of the spectrum. The author briefly discusses current receiver technology and speculates on the likely developments over the next ten years
