A Chinese Idiomatic Phrase E-Learning System

This paper describes a Chinese phrase e-learning system. We apply the concept of Web 2.0 and the technology of AJAX to this teaching system. For the past ten years people have been using computers as a communication tool, which greatly reduces the chance of handwriting and causes a decline in their ability to compose. Here we develop a teaching system for children to learn Chinese idioms easily. It has been shown that learning more idioms can greatly improve composition skill. To attract children to this teaching system, we design some innovative, entertaining units in the system. The system also involves Web 2.0 and AJAX technologies, which can overcome the drawbacks of using traditional Web pages. Moreover, the system can be expanded easily and is fully flexible for both parents and teachers.
