Abstract :
Summary form only given. In-situ and programmable control of the phase as well as the delay time of the optical pulse train generated from ultrafast lasers is mandatory for applications in high-speed optical communication and optoelectronic measurement systems. In this work, we demonstrate for the first time a novel delay-time tunable, passively mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser achieved by feedback controlling the cavity length of the laser via an end mirror integrated with PZT. The inherent laser-timing adjusting circuit by using a digital phase-locked loop in connection with a PZT controller is proposed. The performance of the system such as the maximum delay-time, the tuning resolution, the linearity, the pulse width and the phase noise of the laser pulse during adjustment are discussed.
