Title :
Load management using pole mounted RTUs
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
This paper reviews the practical aspects of using pole mounted RTUs to trim peak kW demand at smaller electric utilities. Two case studies are presented which show varying methods of lowering demand charges. Financial issues of cost-justifying the acquisition of a peak-shaving system and post audit is also discussed. Although other types of RTUs exist, such as card cage and free standing rack mounted types, the RTUs mentioned here are restricted to small, transducerless, pole mounted RTUs
