Abstract :
This paper analyzes the status quo of investment in on-the-job training based on the field data from large and medium- sized enterprises in Wuhan City, China. Major findings include: (1) there is a lack of high-tech employees with a great demand for on-the-job training, (2) insufficient attention is paid to on-the-job training by enterprises and, (3) the methodology of training is inappropriate and simple. Relevant policy recommendations are proposed accordingly for the Chinese government and enterprises based on these findings.
