Abstract :
An ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with a notch band using a pair of I-shaped parasitic elements is presented. The antenna is a planar structure and has a compact area of 25×25 mm2. The antenna has a circular slot cut in the ground plane and a circular patch is printed within that, meeting the ultrawideband applications. A 50Ω coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission line is used to feed the printed circular metal patch. By attaching a pair of I-shaped parasitic elements on the bottom of the structure, a band-notched characteristic is well realized, reducing the potential interference between the UWB and wireless local area networks (WLAN). The High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) is used to simulate the proposed antenna, proving it has the promising performance including broadband impedance matching and omnidirectional radiation pattern.
