Abstract
We describe an 800-MHz CDMA-based fiber-optic microcellular system implemented on the optical passive double star network using subcarrier multiplexing and subcarrier multiple access techniques. This network enables to transport CDMA carriers bi-directionally between the central base station and up to 6 micro base stations through one core of optical fiber with the optical splitters or couplers. Field test results are also presented to show the advantages of a simulcast mode operation of the system in rural areas. The performance and field test results confirm that this system is effective not only for implementing microcellular systems, but also for covering the radio-blind areas
