Abstract :
Summary form only given. Dynamic holographic recording in photorefractive crystals is of great practical interest for detecting phase modulated laser signals and for real-time optical computing. Under certain conditions, dynamic recording can provide excitation of space charge waves in photorefractive crystals, resulting in a much higher recording sensitivity and giving new opportunities for signal detection. In this report we describe new effects discovered in photorefractive Bi/sub 12/SiO/sub 20/, Bi/sub 12/GeO/sub 20/, and Bi/sub 12/TiO/sub 20/ crystals associated with nonlinear interactions of space charge waves. They are frequency and wave vector doubling; and temporal and spatial rectification.
