Abstract :
Summary form only given. Recently, we reported obtaining THG by cascading non-phase-matched SHG and sum frequency generation in a single cerium-doped KTiOPO/sub 4/ (Ce:KTP) crystal from femtosecond laser pulses at 1.32 /spl mu/m. A conversion efficiency of 0.17% was achieved at a pump intensity of 3.2/spl times/10/sup 11/ W/cm/sup 2/. In order to improve the conversion efficiency, we have designed a new KTP structure by using quasi phase-matched (QPM) SHG to replace the previous non-phase-matched SHG. Here, we report our first result of efficiently generating coherent blue light in this crystal.
