  • Abstract
A model predictive controller (MPC) for transformless shunt hybrid power filters (SHPF) is proposed in this paper to compensate the harmonics generated by nonlinear load. In the proposed MPC, discrete time model of SHPF is employed to predict the next current values for all possible space vectors. The vector which minimizes a cost function is selected as the next switching vector. The steady-state and dynamic performances of MPC with different types of nonlinear loads are verified with simulation results. The traditional MPC has good robustness to the parameter deviations of resistance and inductance but sensitive to the capacitance. In this paper, the robustness is highly improved with additional capacitor voltage detections.
