Abstract :
The complexity of networks is increasing faster than the skill base required to manage them. On the other hand, rapid deployment of many mission critical applications increases the concern of a corporate management for the effectiveness of network management. In real life, complex networks are held together by a small number of experts each of whom understands some aspect of the network. Therefore, there is a strong need for tools and techniques for the optimal utilization of the most valuable resources of a networking organization i.e. the experts. The increasing shortage of such personnel will lead to a number of organizations sharing the services of such experts. Hence there is growing need for network management systems for effectively utilizing the skills of these experts. Two major types of such support systems are multimedia and mobile computing systems.
