Abstract :
The electrical parameters of synchronous reluctance motors (SynRMs) are used to calculate PI gains in a synchronous PI current regulator as well as to determine the reference currents of the speed controller in the various control strategies of SynRMs. Many methods of measuring or estimating the electrical parameters of a SynRM have been proposed by other researchers. But almost researchers only measure or estimate the machine electrical parameters in limited conditions without fully considering the effects of inverter switching elements, connecting wires and magnetic saturation. The acquired results are usually different from the real parameters for the use of the motor drive. These results can deteriorate the drive performance of the SynRM. In this paper, we introduce a new method that uses the synchronous PI current regulator in the motor drive system to measure electrical parameters at standstill. The acquired parameters are used for PI gains of the synchronous PI current regulator. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
