Abstract :
In the design world, complex parts are commonly used for both functional and ergonomics purposes. These parts are difficult to machine due to its irregular surface curvatures and the complex features. This paper presents the application of CAD/CAM in modelling, process planning and fabrication of a complex mechanical part called "landing gear connector fitting". The part is modelled using UniGraphics CAD/CAM system. The process planning is developed and tool path simulation is carried out. NC codes are then generated for machining using CNC milling machine. The best modelling method and tool path sequence for the part are determined. The recommended cutting parameters are also highlighted.
