Abstract :
Describes techniques that have been developed and used to measure the throughput and transit delay of packet switched data networks. The techniques have been applied to the Australian packet switched network and to a wide variety of international packet switched data connections. The results of such measurements have been used as the technical basis for specifying performance objectives. The problems of measuring these performance parameters are also discussed
