Abstract :
The optimum sectional waveguide taper (OSWT) for the broadband coupling of quasi-optical circular-section waveguides of the class "hollow dielectric waveguide" has been realized in a four-sectional form and tested. Obtained over the broad band 2.5-8 mm, the measurement results validate the formulae on which the suggested OSWT design is based. Compared to the ordinary linear taper, the OSWT essentially reduces the transition region but retains the broadband property and ease of manufacture of the linear taper.
