Abstract
This paper presents recent progress of acousto-optic tunable filters. The discussion focuses on the performance improvement for two applications: (a) electronically tuned imaging spectrometer for the mid-wave infrared and (b) wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) switch for fiber optic communications. The critical issues for each of these applications are addressed. Experimental results of these AOTFs are reported
