Abstract :
To estimate software effort according to software size, statistical analysis was held using the historical project data. The tool statistics method and the programming statistics method were adopted independently for linearity regression analysis. After the regression analysis, the linearity regression equation was obtained. The final studies showed that the outcomes obtained by these two methods are consistent. The application of the linearity regression equation proved that these two methods are effective and they could be applied in the actual software projects. Now these methods have been used in some software organizations, which proved that the result is good and it is worthy of further studies and promotion.
